Confirmation Update
Confirmation class 2/24 reminders
We missed Mrs. G, Raleigh, Ryan, Abby and Heather this week.  We sure had a lot of visitors: The Beards, Mr. Niner, Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. Beaver, and Mrs. Quinn were all helpful.
Prayers for Chris Hill's ordination, the pastor search and Mrs. Goodrum's next surgery.
Review Theisms: polytheism, monotheism, nathralism, pantheism and remember the we know that there is only one God.
All Scripture is God "breathed" or God inspired though written by many authors in several languages, in many different circumstances, over 1600 years, recorded in 66 books (the 39 of the OT often foretelling events that happened later and are recorded in the 27 books of the NT), it is a guide for your life, but you have to learn to use it if you want it to guide your life!
Homework: Find funny Bible stories, remember your handout and daily devotions.
Remember: the "wisdom literature" of Hebrews...that the term "brothers and sisters" isn't just a biological term.  Also remember that when Christ died he promised to come again and to send us a "comforter"--I bet you now know just who that comforter is!  We talked about our conscience and how that is only one of many ways that God speaks to us--as you grow older, if you invite Him into your life, you will learn to listen for the many ways God leads you in the decisions of your life.
Hope to see you all next week--let your teachers know if you won't be coming!
Thanks,
CONFIRMATION CLASS, February 3rd, 2008

We were happy to have Raleigh Knox and Mrs. G with us, also some of our mentors (the Beards and Hickmans and Mrs. Beaver), but we missed Emily and hope she is feeling better.  Courtney, we hope you had a great time on the Bethel Youth ski trip!

We practiced actually using our Bibles as we read Genesis 1--2:1-3 circling the word "God" and underlining "God said" and "it was good".  Do you have words to describe what was before God made the world?  What does the word "us" mean in Genesis 1:26--God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit ("the Trinity") were one and were already present during creation!  Also, what about the 7th day of rest mentioned in Genesis 2:1-3?  Why did God rest and why does He want us to rest?  We all agreed that in today's world, few people truly rest on Sunday--why do you suppose that is?  God created man (and woman) in whose image?  What does that mean?  Lastly, remember that GOD NEVER CHANGES AND IS ALWAYS PRESENT!

This week we are in special prayer for the Herbert family as they continue to grieve the loss of John and James.  We especially remember their little sister.  We ask God to comfort Heather's Mom as she prepares for surgery on February 15th.  We praise for the safe arrival of the Cooper's baby and that Rachel's uncle has a new girlfriend.  We ask God to look after Mike's cousin, Page, as she enters Duke hospital for 6 weeks of therapy.

HOMEWORK: Don't forget to review the Catechism questions on page 11 and the study guide that Mrs. G handed out so you will be ready for next week's lesson.  Especially remember the ten minutes a day of devotional time in study and prayer.  This may be hard for some of us but it will be an important part of becoming a life-long follower of Christ.

SOMETHING SPECIAL: You won't want to miss next Sunday, February 10th--we will all sit together on the front pew during worship and be introduced to the church family.

DON'T FORGET: Always bring your Bibles and workbook to class and let one of your teachers know if you are going to be absent.  Don't forget to wear your name tags every Sunday, not just in class, but, more importantly, as you enjoy the Fellowship time and go to worship.  We want everyone to know who you are and to be in prayer for you during the special time in your life.

See you Sunday!
