(03/11/2008 update)
Can you please put on the prayer concern my cousin Darren Alexander. Earlier this afternoon he was working on a lawnmower or piece of machinery, and some how it feel on him while suspended. He was by himself, and sometime later his mother found him unconscious and not breathing. They did CPR and took him to Lake Norman Hospital, where he was then airlifted to CMC.  He has a wife and a young daughter and son. He has no organ damage and only a few broken ribs, but he is not breathing on his own yet and they don't know how long his brain was without oxygen, which is the main issue and why he is in such a bad condition at the present moment. Please keep him and his family in your prayers as they deal with this.  As a strong faithful family we all know that it is ultimately in the Lords hands, and they have been rallying around him with prayers, so if you could pray too that would be greatly appreciated.

Hopewell Presbyterian and Trinity United Methodist are teaming together again to help the Frye Family cover 13-year-old Bryson's continuing medical expenses. This now includes a new treatment that was recently started to help Bryson overcome her illness. The October fundraiser was very successful and it was especially heart-warming to see how this community came together to support Bryson and her family.

A Fish Fry and Auction is planned for Saturday, January 26th beginning at 4 p.m. in the Trinity United Methodist Church Family Life Center (6230 Beatties Ford Road). Shrimp, flounder, and catfish with all the trimmings will be served for $9/plate.

As in October, Trinity has volunteered to furnish all of the food (except

dessert) and will do the cooking. Hopewell is asked to supply the desserts and additional volunteers. In addition, items such as gift certificates, autographed sports memorabilia, time-shares, or new items such as furniture are needed for the auction. Donations are also welcome (please make checks payable to Hopewell Presbyterian, and note for the Bryson Frye Fund).

If you are able to help in any of these ways, you may sign up on the sheet available in the Administrative Building hallway. Desserts may be brought to Hopewell on Friday, January 25th or to Trinity on the afternoon of the fish fry. Please contact Dave Moss at 704-875-0064 to schedule pick-up of auction items or for more information.

Let's all do our part to make this a successful event to benefit Bryson!

A friend of mine from work has an 8 year old son with a rare form of cancer.  Harrison (the son) was first diagnosed with cancer when he was 2 years old.  By the time he had reached the age of 5 the doctors thought he was cancer free.  When he turned 6 they found out the cancer was back.  For the past 2 years he has been back and forth to New York for treatment.  During the last year he has been in New York more than at home.  Harrison was able to come home for Christmas this year but had to go back to New York right after the holidays.  He has been getting worse since arriving back in New York.  Mike sent out an email this weekend about Harrison.  The doctors have given Harrison anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks left to live.  There is nothing else they can do for him as the cancer has attacked his liver and is spreading so quickly it is starting to shut his organs down.  Please pray for the Nichols family as they are trying to be brave for their son right now knowing what the future holds.

Ida B. Knox passed away this morning (12/12). Details are incomplete at this time.

This is an update & prayer request from Debbie's friend Lynn Sellick:

"Wednesday, Day 26. I'm feeling better everyday. I'm still a bit amazed I am still here. I did not have to get anything at the clinic today. So, we are getting to go back to the apartment early. Ok, here we go. THIS IS THE PRAYER REQUEST: I need to hold on to platelets or better yet actually produce some. If I can manage to go the next two days not needing platelets they might let me go home on Friday. I got platelets on Sunday, left here with a number of 43, they dropped to 35 on Monday, then dropped to 23 on Tuesday, today I was at 18. If this continues to drop and I hit 10 they will have to give me platelets again - and they won't let me go home. However, if I could manage to just stay stable at 18 or produce platelets, which would even be better. They will probably let me go home this Friday. So, that is the prayer. Let's all PRAY FOR PLATELETS TO PRODUCE. Thanks. Thank God for my progress. Thank you for your entries. God bless you all."

Morning. Please keep my family in your prayers. My grandmother, Kathryn
Crook, died Friday, June 29, and her funeral is today in Sylvania, OH. She
was 99 years old when she died on her late husband's birthday.

Email from David Meacham on Hudson:

Huddy had a hard day today(07/02). He was very sick and very weak. Your prayers and thoughts for him and Ann are needed. Pray for sleep tonight and strength tomorrow.

 David

PS: I added a number of people to this distribution. Huddy had to go to the hospital last Sunday and was diagonosed  that his aortic heart half was about 75% blocked. He is in Carolina’s Medical Hospital room 6910. Let me or others know if you have any questions. Your prayers are deeply appreciated and needed.

Dear all,

David said he talked to 3 physicians today.

The ID (infectious disease) doc.  It seems Hudson has an infection in his blood.  They still have not identified what the bacteria is but should know before long.  He had another fever up to 102-103 today.  I think he is on IV antibiotics.  They will know exactly what antibiotic he needs to be on once they have identified the bacteria and the sensitivities (what antibiotics it is sensitive to)

The surgeon came by - he was very matter of fact.  Said he did not want to operate until the infection is cleared and Hudson is up and walking and has some strength back

There is a new cardiologist.  Nice guy who talked to Dan this morning.  ECHO was fine.

SO

Surgery is on hold until the infection is cleared - could be up to a week.

Cath is on hold for the same reason at least for now.

Dan came home and David said if anyone has questions to call him he is the brother there through Friday

Keep them in your prayers

Lillian and Dan.

(07/02 update)

Hudson Meacham has been moved to CMC and is undergoing additional tests before surgery – probably next week.

(06/29 update)

Robert Blackburn, Hudson Meacham’s nephew is being treated for congestive heart failure in Asheville

Hudson Meacham is still in LNR and will be going to CMC.

The following 2 requests are from Jeff King:

I have two teammates at work that have requested prayer:

Lynne Babcock:  Her father was diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas and liver.  This diagnosis was completely unexpected and appears to be fairly advanced.  He went through a biopsy today...and based on the outcome, the doctors will be making a decision as to whether treatment can be offered at this point vs. simply needing to keep him comfortable.  The gentleman's name is Edward Babcock and from what I understand, is dealing with a great deal of anger and his family is very distraught.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Deanne Grant:  Her father-in-law died of a massive heart attack this morning.  Although he was 86, he was in excellent health, very energetic, and this is a deep loss for the family.  Please keep Dee and her family in your prayers as they travel to Connecticut, to join the rest of the family for the service which will be either Sunday or Monday.

(06/26 update)

(06/25 update)

Just talked to Ann Meacham. She said Hudson was doing fine, he was sitting on the side of the bed getting a sponge bath....

Lanelle Dancy’s friend and neighbor needs prayers – she is in Presbyterian hospital.

Barbara Hopkins just called with an update on her friend’s daughter – Jan Enloe.  Jan’s surgery for breast cancer went well today and the surgeon doesn’t suspect cancer in her lymph nodes.  It is uncertain at the course of treatment she will need at this time.

(06/21 update)

Mary Moore’s surgery went well yesterday and she is at home recovering.  They removed the cyst and the doctors did NOT think it was cancer.  They should have the results in about 7 days.

Parker Black was scheduled to go home today.  Last night he went into A-fib (which can happen after a surgery such as his) so he is being monitored today and has had to take a few steps backward on his therapy.

Vivian Blackmon is doing great.  The report from the doctors is that she does NOT have cancer and she is disease-free.  Vivian thanks everyone for all the prayers sent her way.

(06/20 update)

This prayer request is from Barbara Hopkins – Jan Enloe, the daughter of Barbara’s life long friend, Nancy Smith, has breast cancer.  Surgery is scheduled for Thursday at CMC.
